2013
In 2012, I threw a birthday party at the Military Circle – near the Saint Augustine Church. Were invited, about forty of my relatives. A professional photographer took portraits of each of the guests.
I have a passion for religious subjects. I used photos of 13 of my friends as apostles, in a modern clean version of the last supper.
My friend and painter Thierry Cauwet suggested that I use a panel to paint each apostle and to unite them with a graphic element that crosses the panels – a bar – representing the table of the Last Supper.
Subsequently, I made monotypes of each of the apostles and of Christ. I painted a portrait of my friends freehand, in acrylic, on plastic plates. Then I turned them over on large sheets and pressed down on the blacks of the plastic plates, thus obtaining the image of my friends on paper.
